The Fairgrounds was groomed this morning - only the front half as there isn't enough snow in the pass through areas to get out to the "back 40" yet. Only skate lanes groomed - not enough snow to set classic tracks. With temps now above freezing here in Tookie Village I won't encourage you to ski - better to ski early when the temps are cold and the snow is firm. Skiing on the soft afternoon snow when temps are above freezing can leave deep grooves which are hard to smooth out - especially when our snow cover is so thin. If you go I suggest you use your older skis - NOT the new ones yet - there are thin spots and a few rocks peaking through up on the hill. Enjoy the day.

The groomers and coaches met early this AM to discuss the snow and weather details. We regret to report that the reality is "not enough snow and temps too warm" for us to take out the grooming equipment. Believe me when I say the groomers are chomping at the bit to get this nordic ski season under way. But experience tells us that grooming wet snow is a bad idea. And we ask that you not ski on the ungroomed snow. Because that will create deep ruts in the wet snow which we'll have to try and smooth out when it freezes. We anticipate either making some grooming progress either Sun or Mon AM. Check back here and on the new Blackwaternordic.org website for grooming updates. Thanks for your patience and understanding. /groomer Sasquatch/

We woke up this morning to 2" of wet snow here in downtown Contoocook. The grooming team is excited but we know this isn't enough for us to get out there and create good skiing conditions. So we voted at our early meeting to WAIT for some more snow. Fingers crossed!! /groomer sasquatch/
