Coach Rothe reports that today's Nordic Race at the Fairgrounds was GREAT. The snow conditions were super. A bit of cold wind didn't dampen the nordic ski spirit. It got skied VERY heavily today so conditions will be a bit rough until we can get out and re-groom. Looks like that will be on Thursday at some point. Might be Coach Rothe in the AM or Groomer Jason in the PM. Continued COLD temps are good news for ALL nordic skiers as they'll help us keep it all going at the Fairgrounds. Groomer Sasquatch is off for a few days of warmth in the South lands. But back early next week for more grooming.

We got a start on processing all that new snow yesterday - just packing packing packing with BOTH our Skandic snowmobiles. But the snow is very much like beach sand and didn't really pack well. And then of course the WIND!!!. Wow. Coach Rothe and I will be back out there today for more packing and grooming. HOWEVER, we'll close the Fairgrounds to skiers this PM because we're hosting a Nordic race there tomorrow (Wed 2/19) afternoon and Coach has a lot of course layout work to do. I think Coach said 7 teams racing tomorrow. If you go you may need to walk up from the high school as the parking lot will certainly be full. Fairgrounds open again on Thursday AM for skiing by EVERYONE. /groomer sasquatch/

Fairgrounds trails were groomed this morning. Some classic tracks set around the front field but not in back 40. Hope you can get out for a ski today before the next round of snow/sleet/whatever moves in late today. Depending on what the storm actually delivers it may take us a day or two to get things back in shape. Also, we'll be hosting a race at the Fairgrounds on Wed PM (2/19). Likely we'll need to close to general use skiing Tue & Wed as there is a LOT of extra grooming and race prep needed. Its been quite a few years since our snow has been good enough to host a race so Coach Rothe and our Hopkinton Nordic Teams are excited for a home field event!!
