10/10/2025 We had our first good hard frost here in Contoocook this AM. Fortunately I covered the beautiful lettuce still growing in our raised bed so we'll continue to have delicious salads for a while. And of course this brings to mind the upcoming nordic ski season. One of our snowmobiles is currently "in the shop" for normal maintenance work and the other is ready for the season. The Blackwater Nordic Board is busy planning all the necessary details. We'll be doing some maintenance work on both the grooming shed and the cocoa shack at the Fairgrounds to prepare for the season. Check your email soon for various nordic announcements related to BKL, annual membership, etc. Enjoy the fall! /groomer sasquatch/

Its a sad scene for snow lovers

out at the Fairgrounds. SO much melting as days of warm weather come our way. Our nordic ski season started late this year - we didn't groom until mid-Jan. But then it was pretty consistently okay until early March. A bit up and down of course as weather is always variable. Overall we had a good season I think. Our Nordic Hawks skied strong this year under the direction of our Varsity and Middle School Coaches. And the BKL program had a good season too. We hope you enjoyed some skiing out at the Fairgrounds this winter. I'm almost sure this is the end of the road for the season. But if Mother Nature delivers more snow, we'll re-evaluate and take action. Spring is approaching and that too is a good thing. Enjoy the day. /groomer sasquatch/

Fairgrounds was groomed this AM and is ready for your skiing enjoyment. With a 0-8" base and a groomed granular surface we think you'll find it surprisingly skiable. Only trails in the front half were prepared - nothing in the back 40. Some trails rerouted around the spring water hazards. Don't expect primo mid-winter conditions but very good considering the overall situation. You should get out and enjoy it today because it may be your last chance at the Fairgrounds. Enjoy your Sunday. I'm off to tap some more maples and collect some sap. /groomer sasquatch/
