A busy week with storm after storm. The Fairgrounds skate lanes were groomed on Friday by Groomer/Coach Rob R while Groomer Sasquatch was out of town. It was a big grooming effort to scratch into the hard frozen substance and make it skiable. But the effort resulted in a good skiing surface. We'll regroom Sat AM and set fresh classic tracks. We'll likely close the Fairgrounds Sunday at noon as temps will again climb above 40 with rain in the PM. We prefer not to have skiers out on such soft snow as it leaves big grooves that are hard to smooth out. The Hopkinton Hawks will hosting a Nordic Race at the Fairgrounds on Tuesday so Monday there will be a great deal of extra grooming going on to prepare for that. Synopsis: your best bet is to ski Saturday or Sunday before 12. Thanks.

Thursday 1/26/23 - with temps zooming up into the mid-40s today we'll close the Fairgrounds just for the day. Skiing on warm snow generally leaves deep grooves which are very very hard to groom and smooth when cold temps return. Cold returns Thursday night and we'll be back out Friday morning to regroom, smooth things out, and reset classic tracks for your skiing enjoyment. Until then....maybe rewax your skis? Thanks. /groomer sasquatch/

Extensive grooming at the Fairgrounds this AM with double groomers going. We packed the 12" of new snow, groomed it and set lots of classic tracks everywhere. Skaters will find the conditions soft. Skaters also please be careful to minimize skiing onto the classic tracks - much appreciated. Our Nordic Teams will be out this PM as they're training for 2 classic races this week - one on Wed and another on Saturday. Enjoy the snow. Go Hawks!!!! And here's a bonus photo of Groomer/Coach Rob N and Groomer Sasquatch (the thumbs up) on the job early this AM.
