Fairgrounds trails were groomed this morning for skate skiing. Snow conditions too hard to set classic tracks. Its a BEAUTIFUL sunny morning out there. You really should get out for a ski. On behalf of the Blackwater Nordic Grooming Squad I send out a giant SKI STRONG and GO HAWKS message to our High School Nordic skiers who will be up at Great Glen at the base of the Mt Washington Auto Road for their State Championship nordic meet today. We wish them all the best and are SO PLEASED that we've been able to provide them with some decent nordic skiing at the Fairgrounds for much of this winter (ok there was that period of maybe 3 weeks when it was a giant brown-out). Coach Rothe volunteered to groom the Fairgrounds today so you know the results will be some top notch skiing. He reports that it groomed up nicely for skate skiing but no reset of classic tracks as yesterday's warmth solidified the snow - its too hard to set tracks. Generally warm days and cold nights will help us keep the snow for a while and help the sap in the maple trees flow. The Hawks Nordic Teams will ski in their State Championship meet tomorrow at Great Glen. If you go remember to bring your cowbell.
