Grooming near completion at Fairgrounds as I write. Groomer Jason is out putting down the final corduroy. I rode around in circles for an hour and packed down this new fluffy stufff then hooked up the small groomer. the hope was that the smaller lighter groomer would be less likely to peel this light snow off the icy spots underneath. Every once in a while a good idea works. Conditions are pretty good out there. You should get out and enjoy the snow today and/or tomorrow. Monday looks to be a bit messy with a snow/rain mix in the forecast. Sieze the day!! /groomer Sasquatch/

Christmas Eve. We got some snow yesterday. That’s great. But it fell onto a LOT of icy surface. That makes for some very challenging grooming conditions. First step of rolling was done today. But in some places the new snow just slid off the ice. Bummer. So we need to let this stuff SIT for a day to bond with the ice underneath. There’s more snow in the forecast. And we’ll get back out there after Christmas. You can ski it if you want to but it won’t be very excellent yet. Have a safe and happy holiday with family and friends!!

It was an early AM recon trip to the Fairgrounds to assess the situation following 24 hours of rain and very warm temps. Followed by consultation with the Grooming Squad. The Fairgrounds is still mostly covered by white substance but its more like concrete than snow. And likely there are some bare spots around. We've decided its best to conserve our efforts until early next week. The current forecast is for more wintery precipitation on Tuesday. So we'll see what develops and keep you updated here and on the Blackwater Nordic website.

Enjoy the Winter Solstice tomorrow - the days will start getting longer!!! Thanks all.
